As an Exploratory Pathways student, we expect you to participate in activities that will give structure to your major exploration process and help you gather information to use in your decision-making process:
Enroll in an exploratory course
You cannot truly know if you enjoy something until you try it! We want you to engage in coursework starting in your first semester that will provide direct experience in your academic area(s) of interest.
Participate in career exploration activities
The University Career Center will be another partner in your exploration process. Some of the services that they offer are individual meetings with career coaches to talk about your career interests and goals, career assessments that will help reveal and clarify your interests and strengths, and events throughout the semester, all of which will help guide your career and major planning process.

Download our Exploratory Activities Guide! Some of these activities include joining student organizations, volunteering, meeting with faculty, and attending campus events!
Meet with your academic advisor
Check your advising expectations and schedule!
Develop a short list of potential majors
After taking classes and participating in exploration activities, we encourage you to create a list of 3-5 majors of interest. This list will narrow your exploration process and guide second semester schedule planning.
